Costume Design and Production

Overview

The Production Designer and his/her team or Wardrobe Department are responsible for designing all costumes for the production. Designers will sketch and draw ideas, source fabric swatches and materials and then gain approval before the costumes are constructed.

At Warner Bros. Movie World, the wardrobe department consists of 14 staff who design, maintain and construct the costumes for all characters and performers within the park. Costumes are updated and changed on a regular basis to keep shows and performances looking fresh and new.

Unique materials and methods are used for costume development at Warner Bros. Movie World. For example, the heads for the character suits are sculptured on site by a resident sculpture, a cast of fibreglass is constructed and then the whole suit is covered in fur.

All materials are lightweight where possible and washable for longevity, and lycra and elastic are widely used for dancers for ease of movement and comfort.

Hairdressers are employed at Warner Bros. Movie World to style and prepare wigs to go with appropriate costumes. Warner Bros. Movie World has approximately 50-60 wigs in its costume department and about 20 are used within the park each day.
